Abstract: Igusa stacks are newly introduced geometric objects in p-adic geometry that play an analogous role of Shimura varieties. We explain how they can be used to study the intersection cohomology of Shimura varieties. This is joint work in progress with Ana Caraiani and Linus Hamann, motivated by conjectural descriptions of the cohomology due to Arthur and Kottwitz.
